What is “Getting to know you”?
“Getting to know you” is three optional sections you can fill in after sign-up, each taking two or three minutes. Life together helps us avoid introducing people with very different plans for married life. What makes you feel cared for and How you communicate add a few short lines to your introductions, so the other person gets a feel for you before you meet. You see every line first and choose which ones are shown.
Where to find it
Go to Profile, then Getting to know you. Home also suggests the next section you haven’t done yet. Tap Not now to hide that suggestion for a week.
The three sections
- Life together: home, parents, money and work. Used for matching only, never shown.
- What makes you feel cared for: eleven everyday moments. Adds two lines to your introductions: what makes you feel cared for, and how you show care.
- How you communicate: your pace, your rhythm and how you handle disagreements. Adds up to three lines.
Before you start
The two sections that add lines to your profile begin with a short note. We work out a few short descriptions from your answers, and you choose which ones appear. You need to agree to the note before you start; you can take that back at any time by deleting your descriptions.
What the other person sees
On your introduction, under Getting to know followed by your name, they see the lines you’ve left on, such as:
- What makes Mei feel cared for: Time together and kind words.
- How Mei shows care: Help with things.
- How Mei communicates: Pace: calm and considered · Focus: people first, and a short tip for getting to know Mei.
- Mei’s rhythm: Early riser · Texts a few times a day.
They never see your individual answers, only these lines.
Check, hide or retake
Under What your matches see on the Getting to know you page:
- Turn Shown off to hide a line. You can turn it back on any time.
- Tap Doesn’t sound like me if a line feels wrong. It tells us the wording needs work, and you can retake the section.
- Open a section again to retake it. Each retake starts fresh.
Delete them
Tap Delete these descriptions at the bottom of the Getting to know you page, then Delete. This removes your answers to both sections, every line made from them, your earlier attempts, and your agreement to the note. Your Life together answers stay; you can change them on the Life together page.
