Why does Steade ask if we’ve met?
A week after your conversation opens, a short private card appears at the top of your chat asking whether you’ve met in person yet. If you have, it asks two more things: did they seem like their profile, and would you meet again. The other person never sees your answers. We use them, together with everyone else’s, to learn which parts of our matching lead to good introductions.
What it asks
- Have you met in person yet? Yes or not yet.
- Did they seem like their profile? Yes, mostly or not really.
- Would you meet again? Yes, maybe or no.
If you answer Not yet, we ask again a week later while the conversation is still open.
Who sees your answers
- Not the other person: Nothing you answer is shown or sent to them, and it doesn’t affect your conversation.
- Not other members: Your answers never appear on your profile or in any introduction.
- The Steade team looks only at totals across many conversations, such as how often people would meet again. These answers aren’t used to judge or rank you.
Is it optional?
Yes. You can leave it unanswered and carry on chatting. Answering helps us improve introductions for everyone.
If something worried you
The check-in isn’t the place to raise a safety concern. If someone made you feel unsafe or wasn’t who they said they were, report them instead, so a moderator can look at it.
