When can I start chatting with someone?
Chat opens only when you and the person you were introduced to both accept the introduction within the 48 hours. We let you both know straight away, and your conversation appears on Home and in the Chat tab. There’s no rush to send the first message, and either of you can end the conversation at any time.
Opening your conversation
When you both say yes, you’ll get a You’re connected notification. Then:
- Open Steade.
- Tap Open chat on Home, or go to the Chat tab.
- Say hello when you’re ready. A simple hello is a good start.
What chat offers
- Text only: Messages can be up to 2,000 characters. There are no photos, files, voice or video calls in chat.
- Their full profile: Tap their name at the top of the conversation to see their profile and photos again.
- Delivered and Read: Your latest message shows whether it has been delivered or read.
- Safety tips and tools: Tips for meeting safely sit at the top of the chat. The menu in the top corner lets you end the conversation, report or block.
One conversation at a time
While your conversation is open, you won’t get new introductions. It stays open until one of you ends it. If neither of you has sent a message for a week, we’ll ask you both whether you’d like to keep chatting or end the conversation.
