How do I get notifications on my phone?
Go to Settings and turn on Push notifications, then allow notifications when your browser asks. On an iPhone, first add Steade to your Home Screen from Safari, open it from there, and turn push on in the installed app. Email notifications are on by default and work separately, so you can keep either or both.
Add Steade to your home screen
Steade is a web app, so there’s nothing to download from an app store. Adding it to your home screen makes it open like an app, and on iPhone it’s needed for push notifications.
iPhone or iPad (Safari):
- Open steade.app in Safari and log in.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Open Steade from the new icon on your Home Screen.
Android (Chrome): open steade.app, tap the browser menu, and choose the option to install the app or add it to your home screen.
Turn on push notifications
- In Steade, go to Profile and tap the settings icon.
- Under Notifications, turn on Push notifications.
- Allow notifications when your browser asks.
Push is set up for each device. Settings shows how many devices have it on. If you use Steade on another phone or computer, turn it on there too.
What we notify you about
- a new introduction
- a reminder 12 hours before an introduction closes, if you haven’t decided
- when you’re connected and chat opens
- new messages
- when an introduction or conversation ends
- a week without messages in your conversation
- your identity check result, and a photo that wasn’t approved
Notifications never include anything about the other person. Open Steade to see the details.
How email works
Turn Email on or off in Settings. Even with email off, we always email you the result of your identity check. If a push notification can’t reach you, we send it by email instead.
For messages, push arrives straight away. An email follows only if the message is still unread after 10 minutes and push didn’t reach you, and at most once an hour for each conversation.
