Steade vs Bumble
Bumble is a swiping app with paid Boost, Premium and Premium+ plans, and after a match you each get one opening message. Steade has no swiping. Twice a week it sends at most one introduction with up to three reasons, and chat opens only when you both accept. Steade is free and checks every member’s identity.
Last checked . Sign-up is open. Introductions start once most members have at least five people who fit them both ways.
The main difference
On Bumble, you swipe right to like and left to pass. After you match, you both have 72 hours to send one opening message, and the chat opens once the other person replies. Unlimited likes, seeing who liked you and advanced filters are paid features.
On Steade, the matching round does the choosing. You set preferences and up to three dealbreakers, and on Tuesday and Friday at 8 pm you may get one introduction with up to three things you share. You both have 48 hours to accept or pass, and chat opens only if you both say yes.

Who should choose which
Bumble may suit you better if
- You like swiping and making quick decisions yourself.
- You want to meet people of any gender or orientation.
- You want to start meeting people today, not on a set evening.
- You’re happy to pay for extras such as seeing who already liked you.
Steade may suit you better if
- You’d rather not swipe at all.
- You want both people to say yes before anyone writes a word.
- You want every member identity-checked before they can meet anyone.
- You want introductions that respect dealbreakers on both sides.
Questions
Do women still have to message first on Bumble?
Bumble’s help centre says both people now get one opening message after a match, and the chat opens when the other replies. On Steade, chat opens for both of you once you both accept the introduction.
Is Steade really free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no boosts and nothing to unlock, and none is planned. Money never affects who is introduced.
How does Steade check identity compared with Bumble?
Bumble offers ID verification with a government ID and a selfie, and shows a badge. Steade requires every member to verify before they can meet anyone, with Singpass or with an NRIC or Singapore pass and a selfie reviewed by a moderator. Document images are deleted once the review is decided, within 7 days at most.
Does Steade offer same-sex introductions?
No. Steade introduces men and women only, and says so before sign-up. If you want same-sex introductions, Bumble, which describes itself as for straight, gay, lesbian and queer daters, will suit you better.
When does Steade open?
Sign-up is open now. Introductions start once most members have at least five people who fit them both ways. Until then your profile and preferences are saved, and we’ll tell you when your first introduction arrives.
