Steade

Dating app alternatives in Singapore

If swiping has worn you out, Singapore has other options: curated daily batches, Singpass-verified apps, a government pilot, matchmaking agencies, and Steade, which sends one free introduction twice a week. None of them suits everyone, so this page sets out who each one fits, including when Steade is the wrong choice.

Last checked . Sign-up is open. Introductions start once most members have at least five people who fit them both ways.

When Steade isn’t the right choice

  • You want to browse. Steade has no feed. Hinge, Bumble, Tinder, OkCupid, Coffee Meets Bagel and PerfectPairing all let you choose for yourself.
  • You want same-sex introductions. Steade introduces men and women only. Bumble describes itself as for straight, gay, lesbian and queer daters, and OkCupid offers more than 60 gender identities and orientations.
  • You want to meet someone this week. Introductions haven’t started yet: they begin once most members have at least five people who fit them both ways. After that, they come only on Tuesday and Friday evenings, and only when there’s someone who fits.
  • You want someone to arrange dates for you. A matchmaking agency does that, for a fee.
  • You don’t want to verify your identity. Every Steade member has to, before they can meet anyone.
  • You live outside Singapore, or want something casual. Steade is for adults living in Singapore who want a committed relationship.

Questions

What is the best dating app in Singapore?

There isn’t one best app. If you want to browse, a swiping app such as Hinge, Bumble or Tinder fits. If you want verified profiles, look at options with Singpass checks. If you want fewer, considered introductions, Steade or a matchmaking agency fits better.

Which dating apps in Singapore use Singpass?

Coffee Meets Bagel offers Singpass verification for a badge, PerfectPairing requires it for every user, and FirstDate verifies with Singpass. Steade requires every member to verify, with Singpass or with an NRIC or Singapore pass and a selfie reviewed by a moderator.

Is there a dating app in Singapore with no paid tier?

Steade is free, with no paid tier and none planned. Hinge, Bumble, Tinder, Coffee Meets Bagel and PerfectPairing all sell paid plans or extras. FirstDate hasn’t published a price.

Which option suits same-sex dating?

Bumble describes itself as for straight, gay, lesbian and queer daters. Steade introduces men and women only.
